Who
We Are Imagine
a husband-wife team that consists of a pair of Catskill Mountain
entertainers who serve up a variety of material that have delighted
fans and strangers from Meredith to Metropolis. Their performances
include all sorts of stories and many genres of music, all made
to order and seasoned to taste with a dash of originality.
Ira J. McIntosh was born, and is still being raised in Delaware
County, where generations of both of his parents’ ancestors lived.
A child of a Catskill Mountain woodsman and a folklorist-ethnomusicologist,
Ira has been simmering in good old-time heritage for well over three
decades. He is an eclectic raconteur and musician who feels at home
with any stringed instrument, generally mandolin, guitar, banjo
and bass.
Story Laurie has been a storyteller all her life. This became her
professional career shortly after moving to the Catskills a decade
ago. Since that time, Story Laurie has delighted hundreds of school,
library, nursing home and festival audiences with her dynamic, engaging
performances. Teaming up with her husband Ira has allowed her to
deepen her natural talent for singing and learn the delicious joy
of sharing the magic of both storytelling and music with folks of
all ages.
Ira & Laurie live 2/3 of the way up Delaware County's highest peak,
and if there weren't so many stories to tell and so much music to
play, they'd probably never come down off the mountain.
